Finally summer...(and 3 months away from debut!)
Second second pass pages are in and other updates
Hello there!
Warm days are finally here to stay!
I’ve turned in second pass pages on my debut novel. Still can’t believe There’s No Way I’d Die First is out in 3 months. And…I’m drafting again!
So for the uninitiated, pass pages are the typeset draft of the book with the font, text layout and page design elements. It looks like a real book!
I turned in my second pass pages last week which had very minor comments and grammatical suggestions, a few cases of word repetition (echoes) that were flagged, and a few copy editing comments. I’m not sure if more pass pages are coming my way or if the book is truly and really done!
There’s No Way I’d Die First is now on Net Galley! Go on and request a digital review copy! I’m planning an e-arc giveaway soon so stay tuned…
My editor shared that There’s No Way I’d Die First was mentioned in a Publisher’s Weekly article about thrillers. How exciting is that? Very.
Blurbs are in…
It’s one thing to write a book in private. It’s something else entirely (mildly distressing) when said book has been sent out to authors that you’re a huge fan of, asking them to read and blurb the book. Cue the anxiety and self-doubt! Will they or won’t they blurb? What if they hate the book and refuse to blurb? Thankfully the blurb list was tackled by my editor and agent so I sat back and tried not to think too much about it, and reminding myself that I have no control what anyone thinks about my book.
By the deadline (they were given just over a month to read), I got some great blurbs from authors whose books I absolutely loved! And even one from a New York Times bestselling author!! Can’t wait to share these great blurbs closer to release date. You should totally pre-order a copy by the way!
Arcs are out in the world
I’m lucky enough to have printed ARCs (Advance Review Copies) which were sent out by the publisher to booksellers and influencers to help build buzz about the book. I’ve even been tagged on Instagram a few times by readers who’ve gotten to read the book early. This is so wild me!!
If you’re interested in getting an e-arc, I’m planning a giveaway soon!!
In other writing news…
I’m drafting again!
I’m working on a fun Middle Grade contemporary novel that I can’t say much about right now (besides that the writing is going slowwwly) but the second half of 2023 is shaping up to be pretty busy! I’ll be able to share more about this project soon.
I’m also working on a proposal for my next YA Horror/Thriller. Perhaps in my next newsletter I’ll talk about goes into the proposal and how I’m prepping for that.
On my TBR (to-be-read)
I got approved for an insane amount of ARCS on Net Galley so I’ll be booked and busy reading (and reviewing). Here’s what’s on my reading list this summer!
Stay cool until next time.
xoxo
